The Albion City Council voted during a special meeting on Tuesday to have a third-party investigate Sonya Brown.

The council along with Brown supported the measure, but she made an amendment to the proposal before the vote.

"I have no problem with an investigation. I'm well prepared. It's long overdue. It needs to be done. What I’m asking is that council approve an investigation of the allegations of harassment made by Chief Kipp and also an investigation into who leaked the complaint,” Brown said during the meeting.

Brown has accused Albion Police Chief Scott Kipp of harassment.

She is accused of instructing the Albion City Manager LaTonya Rufus to remove him from his job, which is against the Albion City Charter.

Rufus resigned from the position and Kipp was made interim city manager.

Brown is up for a recall vote on November 5, 2019, in Precinct 3.
