Lincoln Police said an officer tased a 34-year-old man Thursday morning after he led them on a vehicle chase, then a foot chase while carrying drugs.

Shortly before 1 a.m. an officer attempted to pull Daniel Kennedy over when he didn't use his turn signal near 14th and A Street. Kennedy then began going 50 mph in a 25 mph zone and ran two stop signs, according to the officer. LPD said the car came to a sudden stop near 20th and B Street, where both Kennedy and his passenger got out and started running.

The officer said he began chasing Kennedy on foot and finally caught up with him behind a house. Kennedy attempted to jump a fence but failed. The officer said he ordered Kennedy to get on the ground, but he refused. Kennedy claimed he did nothing wrong and raised his hands. The officer said he tased Kennedy when he began reaching for his waist.

Officers arrested Kennedy without injury but found 5.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Officers said he was also driving with a suspended license since 2017.

Kennedy was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and felony flee to avoid arrest. He was also cited for obstructing a peace officer and driving during suspension.

LPD said a woman in the car ran off and has not been caught.
