Missing Columbus man located in Colorado

A Columbus man reported missing by his family members over a year ago has been located in Colorado.

Joseph A. Voecks, 22, was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service on Monday, February 11, 2019, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Voecks was reported as missing by family members on January 14, 2018.

Investigators with the NSP had worked numerous leads since Voecks was reported missing by his family. On February 7, 2019, information was developed by NSP Investigators that indicated Voecks was in the Colorado Springs area.

The U.S. Marshalls Service office in Sioux City was contacted, and with assistance from the U.S. Marshals offices in Omaha and Denver, Voecks was located on February 11 in Colorado Springs by the Marshals Service and taken into custody on two felony warrants.

The warrants are for Criminal Attempt of a Class 3 Felony from Nance County and 1st Degree Sexual Assault of a Minor from Platte County, on a case initiated and handled by the Columbus Police Department.

Voecks is currently in custody in Colorado awaiting extradition to Nebraska.
