Lincoln Police make arrest in drive-by shooting

Lincoln Police made an arrest in a drive-by shooting that happened just east of 29th and Q Streets.

On June 26 around 2 p.m., a 58-year-old man reported he was at home with his family near 31st and Kleckner Court when he thought he heard fireworks. He told police he heard glass break in his bedroom and realized the sound was gunfire striking the home. The victim ran outside and saw a small grey vehicle speeding away. Officers located 9 bullet holes on the house.

Shortly before 11 p.m., officers returned to the home on reports of more gunfire. The victim reported the suspects had returned and 11 additional bullet holes were found and .22 caliber casings were located at the scene.

Through witness description and surveillance video from a neighbor's home, police identified 18-year-old Deontrey Rush as one of the suspects.

Rush was arrested Friday morning on Portia Street, just east of 14th and Adams.

Rush was arrested for aiding and abetting the unlawful discharge of a firearm.
