Columbus police investigating multiple shootings in about 5-hour span

The investigations are the latest as the city as seen an increase in shootings recently.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police are investigating several shootings and incidents where shots were fired Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

The investigations are the latest as the city as seen an increase in shootings recently.

Around 10 p.m. Tuesday officers responded to a business on Westerville Road near Thornapple Drive on a report of a shooting.  Police said no one was shot but five vehicles and a building were hit.

A 12-year-old and a 1-year-old were in one of the vehicles that were hit. Police said the 1-year-old was injured by shattered glass and treated at the scene.

Police are investigating a deadly shooting on Seymour Avenue, just north of Livingston Avenue, that happened just after 11 p.m. Tuesday  Tahzje Patterson, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police said a 16-year-old girl was hurt when more than 50 shots were fired at a house on Jermain Drive around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police said she was shot in the leg and will recover.

Just after 11:30 p.m., there was a report of a shooting in the 2300 block of McGuffey Road.  Officers did not find anyone shot at the scene but a 17-year-old boy showed up at Grant Medical Center with gunshot wounds to his back.

Police said he is expected to survive.

The boy told police he walked up to a vehicle on McGuffey Road when someone fired several times from the back driver's side window.  

On Wednesday just before 1 a.m. police said a duplex on Durbridge Road, off of Sharon Woods Boulevard, was shot multiple times 

A home on Karl Road, near Sandalwood Place, was shot around 3 a.m.
