The Toledo baseball team starts an eight-game road swing this week with a pair of midweek contests at Dayton and Michigan State.

The Rockets visit the Flyers on Tuesday at 3:05 p.m. and the Spartans on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. Links for live stats, live stream and audio are below and, as always, follow along on Twitter at @ToledoBaseball for any and all updates.

Last Time Out

Toledo dropped two out of three to Central Michigan over the weekend.

Trailing by one entering the bottom of the eighth in the first game, the Rockets manufactured two runs to take a late lead and secure their fourth straight win. Ryan Thompson drove in the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly to left field, one of his two RBIs on the day. John Servello went 3-for-3 and senior Brad Boss went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored.

That winning streak was snapped on Sunday, though, when CMU swept a doubleheader. The Rockets were unable to overcome a potent CMU offensive attack on Sunday. Game one was close until a four-run seventh inning for the Chippewas put the game out of reach for UT. Game two was all CMU from the get-go, and 12 runs over the final four innings put an emphatic end to the weekend series for Central Michigan.

Rocket Notes

• Brad Boss has walked 108 times in his career, and walked nine times last week. He is currently third all-time in program history and is four walks away from setting the program record.

• Drew Compton has made three starts behind the plate since making his first collegiate appearance on April 9, and the Rockets have won all three games.

• Riley Campbell has been hit by a pitch 13 times this season and still sits atop the MAC in that category.

• Zach Schwartzenberger hit his first home run of the season on Sunday, the second homer of his career. His first home run came in the first at-bat of his career at the start of last season.

Scouting the Competition

Dayton won the last meeting with Toledo, 12-9, at Scott Park. Since then the Flyers are 4-4, having recently taken two out of three against George Mason. UD is second in the Atlantic 10 and 11th in the country with 88 stolen bases, and its hitters have drawn 84 hit-by-pitches, second most in the nation. Dylan Keller, Tuesday's starting pitcher, owns a 1.83 ERA in 19.2 innings and opponents are hitting just .136 against him.

Michigan State is 10-27 entering Wednesday's game and holds a 1-11 record in Big Ten play. The Spartans are hitting .223 as a team and getting on base at a .296 clip. Marty Bechina leads the team with three home runs and 19 RBIS, while Bryce Kelley has a batting average of .299, highest on the team. The pitching staff has an ERA of 5.47 and has tallied 323 strikeouts to 194 walks.
