Crews fight fire at Henderson playground

HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - Firefighters in Henderson were called Thursday afternoon to the playground at Kimmel Park.
Henderson Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Aaron Thompson tells us they were dispatched just before 2 p.m. Thursday.
He tells us as crews approached the scene, they saw heavy smoke. When they got there, the assistant chief says a large part of the playground was on fire.
They tell us the playground has rubber mulch, and there was nothing on the playground that could have caught fire.
The department shared photos of the playground equipment engulfed in flames.
They tell us they’re still investigating.
