YOU LIKELY WON'T BE SEEING THESE FISHING BOATS OR SMALLER CRAFTS ON THE WATER THIS WEEKEND BECAUSE OF HOW QUICKLY IT'S MOVING. WE MET SOME FISHERWOMAN WHO WERE HEEDING THAT ADVICE. "Well as of right now they're not biting any good. They aint had no bites yet." SITTING ON THE DOCK OF THE RIVER , WE MET EDNA AND HER SISTER RHONDA. THEY'VE BEEN FISHING FROM THIS VAN BUREN BOAT DOCK FOR YEARS, AND KNOW TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE WATER LEVELS. "The other night when we was here it was down but it's up some today and I like it better when it's up." BUTTED "The fish, seem like they bite better sometimes when it moves." BUT THE ARMY CORP OF ENGINEERS SAYS WITH HIGH WATER COMES FASTER SPEEDS. TODAY, IT WAS HIGH ENOUGH TO ISSUE A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY TO GET PEOPLE OFF THE WATER FROM VAN BUREN AS FAR SOUTH AS LITTLE ROCK . "Around Van Buren right now, the flows are about 75000 and they're expected to be about 120,000 by tomorrow so we want to make sure that everyone is aware that it's really not safe to be on the river right now. Everyone was familiar with the flooding, this is nowhere near as high but still it would not be safe for pleasure boaters to be out on the river right now." THE FISHING SISTERS SAY THEY PLAN TO STAY ON THE DOCK AND OFF THE WATER, BUT WHEN ASKED IF THEY WERE WORRIED ABOUT THE RISING WATER LEVELS?. "No. Not as long as I'm up here on this hahaha." WOODS SAYS THE POINT OF THE ADVISORY IS TO GET PEOPLE OFF THE WATER, HOWEVER THEY CAN'T ENFORCE IT. SO IF SOMEONE DOES PLAN TO GO ONTO THE ARKANSAS RIVER THIS WEEKEND, HE SAYS TO MAKE SURE THEY TAKE PRECAUTIONS LIKE WEARING LIFE VESTS, AND LOOPING IN FAMILY MEMBERS ABOUT THEIR PLANS.
