Gas line repaired in Springdale

Springdale police officers say SWEPCO was drilling for a utility pole and hit the gas line Black Hills Energy is currently working to repair a damaged gas line on West County Line Road in Springdale. Springdale police officers are on scene and have a portion of County Line Road closed while black hills energy technicians make repairs. Officers on scene tell us that there aren't any evacuations but they do have county line road blocked for crews to make the repairs According to Black Hills Energy The gas service has not been disrupted for customers in the area. Black Hills Energy crews have completed repairs, and all lanes of County Line Road in Springdale have been re-opened, according to the company. ORIGINAL ARTICLE BELOW: A gas line was damaged in Springdale Thursday, according to a press release sent by Amiee York, Community Affairs Program Manager with Black Hills Energy.The damaged line was located near W. County Line Road in Springdale, east of Highway 71-B (N. Thompson Street).Part of the road was closed while technicians worked to make repairs. Gas service had not been disrupted for any customers as of 4:30 p.m., according to York."If any customer smells natural gas, they should leave their home immediately and call 911 and then Black Hills Energy’s emergency service line from a neighbor’s home or from a cell phone at 800-694-8989," York wrote in the release."Don’t use the phone in the house where you smelled gas or turn off any lights as you leave," she wrote. "If there is gas in the house, a spark of any kind could ignite it and cause serious property and personal injuries."
