Perth community rocked by destructive child gang

Locals in a city southwest of Perth are being terrorised by a group of rock-throwing vandals with the mother of one of the alleged offenders at breaking point over her son’s destruction.
The mother-of-six, whose identity is protected for her safety, says she feels helpless and is facing eviction from her home because of her 11-year-old son’s behaviour.
“I don’t want to go outside, I’ve got anxiety because I know everyone is looking at me like ‘That’s the mother of those kids’,” the Rockingham woman told 9News.

While her son should be in foster care, the local community is fed up with the bad behaviour and constant vandalism, with his mother even receiving death threats because of it.
The unruly behaviour is so out-of-control, even the 9News camera crew were targeted while filming last week.
The damage bill throughout the community has reached into the hundreds of thousands, with one local mother even starting a petition for a 24-hour police station to control it.
The mother of one of the gang members, aged just 11, says she feels helpless over her son's destruction and vandalism.

“We’ve got 126,000 people here. We need access 24/7 and not just for the really important stuff,” the woman told 9News.
“We need to know that we are safe.”
Premier Mark McGowan has said he will raise the issue of more police with the commissioner next time they meet.
