Woman arrested following deadly shooting in Denver

The man was shot near North Quebec Street and East 7th Avenue on Saturday.

DENVER — A woman has been arrested for suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with a deadly shooting over the weekend in Denver's Montclair neighborhood, according to a probable cause (PC) statement for her arrest from the Denver Police Department (DPD).

Dajanae Brice, 26, was taken into custody shortly after the shooting Saturday night at North Quebec Street and East 7th Avenue, the PC statement says.

Officers responded to a townhome complex in that area around 9:30 p.m. One caller said they heard "males threatening to kill a female" in the courtyard, the PC statement says. That caller went on to say that the people involved went into a unit and that it "sounded like a female was being assaulted" and they heard a woman say "help me, help me", the statement says.

The caller then heard gunshots, according to the document.

Responding officers arrived and located the male victim, identified as Tyre Falls, 27, lying on the sidewalk. Brice "was crying and kneeling over the victim", according to the PC statement.

Falls was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He had been shot once in the torso, according to the PC statement.

Investigators said they observed marks on Brice's neck, a bite mark on her shoulder and minor bruises and abrasions on her face, according to the PC statement.

Brice gave a statement to the police, but it was redacted from the PC statement.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
