PHOENIX — A man was arrested for setting fire to his sister's home in Phoenix.

Phoenix police report that on January 19, James Burgos, 37, set fire to a vacant house owned by his sister near 19th Avenue and McDowell Road.

Police say Burgos is in an ongoing feud with his family and has made numerous threats to burn down his sister's property.

Court records show that surveillance video from a business across the street from the house reportedly shows Burgos burning something on the sidewalk near the home, then leaving.

He then reportedly returns several hours later and is seen in the video entering the vacant home and walking around. Shortly after he leaves the house, it goes up in flames, police say.

Court records show that the home is a total loss, with the damage estimated to be about $175,000.

Burgos was located and arrested two days later in north Phoenix. He reportedly made no statement to police other than requesting an attorney.

He has been charged with reckless burning and arson.
