PHOENIX — A 40-year-old man is dead after he was struck by another man with a metal pole Wednesday night in Phoenix.

Phoenix police say officers were called to the area of 12th Avenue and Jefferson Street around 10 p.m. where they saw 34-year-old Forrest Miles running northbound with a four-foot-long pole.

A man was following Miles and told police that Miles had struck a man with the pole.

Police detained Miles and officers went to the area of 12th Avenue and Madison Street where they found 40-year-old John Kallay unresponsive in the street.

Kallay was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police say Miles was booked into Maricopa County jail on charges of manslaughter and possession of dangerous drugs.
