Police have made an arrest in the homicide of a Harrisburg High School student last year.

Adrien D. Hailey, 19, of Harrisburg, was taken into custody Wednesday for the killing of 15-year-old Donnell Williams Jr., police said.

Williams was shot to death December 5 at his home in the 1900 block of Bellevue Road.

According to court documents, Hailey fled the scene and then told police he was held at gunpoint and robbed with Williams.

Investigators, however, found no forced entry to the home, and family members told police they saw Hailey leave the bedroom where the crime happened.

Hailey was arrested in Harrisburg by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. U.S. Marshal Martin Pane released a statement, saying, in part, “It is my sincere hope that the victim’s family will find some measure of comfort knowing the suspect will face justice.”

Harrisburg police said they could not answer questions about the case at this time. Mayor Eric Papenfuse was not available for an interview Wednesday.

Williams’s death prompted Harrisburg School District to close three surrounding schools for a day. Officials said that was to mourn. Neighbors thought it was because of safety concerns.

The district did not respond to our request for an interview on Wednesday.

Hailey is charged with criminal homicide, robbery, theft by unlawful taking, tampering with evidence, and false reports.
