LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) — A man accused of stabbing three people aboard a Greyhound bus in Lancaster County is in the Lancaster County Prison.

Philip Giletto, 31, is charged with two counts of attempted homicide, five counts of aggravated assault, and three counts of simple assault.

Police said the stabbing occurred near the Lancaster/Lebanon interchange in Rapho Township after 11 p.m. Monday night.

“I heard one girl say ‘he’s got a knife, he’s got a knife’,” a witness said. “When she said, that I jumped up.”

That witness said he talked to Giletto when Giletto got on the bus.

“He seemed like a decent human being,” the man said, “but he lied about his name to me. He didn’t seem like the type of person to pull out a weapon.”

The man told ABC27 News he was able to help other passengers detain Giletto until the police arrived.

State police say Giletto stabbed a 28-year-old New York man in the back, shoulder, and chest. A 45-year-old Las Vegas man was stabbed in the head, neck, and back, and a 36-year-old Massachusetts woman was stabbed in the back.

Khalid Leckey was one of those people who were stabbed. He said he was playing games on his phone when he was randomly attacked.

“All of the sudden, this man lashed out and stabbed me,” Leckey recalled. “I jumped up and was like ‘what the hell is going on?’.”

Leckey spent Thursday morning in the hospital. He said he got six stitches for his injuries.

“He tried to kill me on that Greyhound bus,” Leckey said.

District Attorney Craig Stedman said the attack appears to have been unprovoked.

“It sounds like it just happened out of the blue,” Stedman said. “This is terrifying, obviously, to the passenger and to the entire community.”
