SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) Citizens of South Salt Lake gathered to honor their fire chief who is retiring after a 42 year career.
Fire chief Ron Morris was hired as a volunteer firefighter with the Salt Lake County Fire Department back in 1974 and became a full-time firefighter in 1977. In March of 2005, he was appointed the State Fire Marshal by then Governer Jon Huntsman Jr. and in 2011 he was named South Salt Lake’s Fire Chief.
The city honored Morris by reading a resolution they passed at the city council meeting and also gave him a plaque.
