Jacksonville father shot and killed in Lackawanna while riding motorbike

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Update 1/11 6:30 p.m.: Action News Jax Exclusive video shows a truck being towed that matches the description of a truck involved in the murder of Kollin Felton, who was gunned down while riding a dirtbike in broad daylight.

We’re still working to confirm if this is the truck that was used during the violent crime.

A local family is mourning the loss of a Jacksonville father shot and killed today while riding his motorbike in the Lackawanna neighborhood.

Family said Kollin Felton, 26, leaves behind a 3-month-old baby.

Investigators said more than 15 shots were fired at Felton from a black Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released a surveillance image of the truck, which appears to show a large white sticker on the driver’s side back window.

Neighbors are calling for an end to the violence. We spoke to a ten-year-old boy near the scene who tells us he’s praying for change.

“I don’t like when people die, and I don’t like when people pass away, and I want to be a good man,” said 10-year-old Bernard Cason. “I’m going to save people, help people.”

Action News Jax obtained surveillance video of the shooting.

In the video Felton is seen riding the motorbike, with the black Dodge Ram chasing him. Felton then makes a right turn onto Cherokee, before falling to the ground.

The Dodge Ram drives up to Felton, pauses for a few moments, then speeds off heading north on Cherokee.

Police tell us he was hit by bullets multiple times. Calls of a shooting went out around 1:24.

The video also captured a Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus driving up to the intersection shortly after the shooting. Action News Jax reporter Ryan Nelson interviewed a man who was on the bus at the time and witnessed the chaotic scene.

He asked not to be identified for his protection.

“The driver started screaming, ‘Oh, my god they’re killing a guy on motorcycle,’” said the witness.

He tells us he took cover underneath the seat in front of him.

Officers are looking to speak with witnesses and obtain video of the incident. No one has been arrested at this time.
