Person living in Georgia home shoots alleged intruder, according to Glynn County police

The Glynn County Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Monday evening.

Investigators said a man described as an attempted burglar was shot by a person living in a home on Johnston Street.

Police said Troy Rogers, 49, was the individual shot during the alledged home invasion.

Police said officers with the Glynn County Police Department and the Brunswick Police Department responded to the reported shooting around 10:30 p.m. Monday at 3506 Johnston Street.

According to police, the initial report was that a person living in the home shot a man, Rogers, who was attempting to burglarize the house.

Police said that after being shot, the suspected burglar fled the scene before officers arrived.

According to police, a Brunswick police officer located Rogers lying on the ground near Sixth Street and Johnston Street with a gunshot wound.

Rogers was transported by a helicopter to UF Health in Jacksonville, according to police.

The Glynn County Police Department said Rogers' is in stable condition.

According to police, the person who shot the alledged intruder is not expected to face any charges.
