AK Beer Week is back: Here are the dinners, pairings and parties coming to Anchorage

It’s the time of the year that Alaska celebrates all kinds of beers. Say cheers to flights, pairings and beer dinners. The week wraps up with the Alaska Craft Brew and Barley Wine Festival, but there’s fun for what “ales” you every day of the week.

AK Beer Week Kickoff Toast — There will be a few short words, beer tastings and a few surprises too. 7-10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, Humpy’s Great Alaskan Ale House, 610 W. Sixth Ave. (facebook.com/humpysgreatalaskanalehouse)

BBA Girdwood Reserve — The bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout, Girdwood Reserve, will be released to kick off beer week. Yeast Geek Trial — Test your yeast knowledge at this beer tasting. Turnagain Brewing will provide small samples of three beers, each made with the same wort. One is fermented with a French Saison yeast, one with an Abby Ale yeast and one with a Wit yeast. Tower of Sour — Eight local breweries will go head to head for the title of Champion of the Tower. Each night will have a new flight to judge. The brews with the most votes continue on to the semifinals and then the battle royale. The winners and new flights are announced each morning. 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26-Thursday, Jan 30. Talkeetna Takeover — Denali Brewing Company Beers, Denali Spirits Cocktails and Holocene Sparkling Glacier Water with CBD will take over Sub Zero Service Industry Night for an evening of Talkeetna drinking. Burgers and Beer Pairings — Burgers made with six ounce Alaska beef patties will be paired with a new beer for six days. Craft Beer and Artisan Grilled Cheese — Fromagio’s Artisan Cheese and Alaskan Brewing Co. are teaming up to create a special grilled cheese themed beer dinner and tasting. Kinley’s Beer Dinner — There will be a five-course meal of diverse foods from confit to curry. Alaska Craft Brew & Barley Wine Festival — Beer Week finishes with a bang, with this festival featuring more than 75 of the region’s best breweries, with more than 300 of the finest pale ales, stouts, pilsners, porters, specialty brews, barley wines, Belgian ales and more. Admission includes a 6 oz. commemorative sampler cup and 20 tickets for samples. The Connoisseur Session will feature specialty beers provided by the breweries that will not be available during the regular session. $45 for general sessions, 6-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Jan. 31-Feb. 1, and $55 for the Connoisseur Session, 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1.
