The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said.

Original story:

A woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after she was struck by a car in South Anchorage on Wednesday evening, according to police.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a car hitting a pedestrian near Dimond Boulevard and the Old Seward Highway, police said in an online alert. Police believe a man driving a Nissan Sentra was pulling out of a parking lot at the Dimond Center mall when he hit the female pedestrian.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said, and no charges or citations have been issued.

The crash temporarily closed eastbound lanes of Dimond Boulevard at Old Seward.
