APD investigates early August assault as homicide after victim dies from injuries

A 44-year-old man died earlier this week after being injured in an early August assault in Anchorage, police said in an alert Friday.

Police say they are now investigating the incident as a homicide, and the suspect — Gregory Outwater, 25 — could face additional charges as a result.

Late the night of Aug. 2, officers responding to a report of an injured person found Dadir Macow lying injured in the grass near Tudor and Elmore roads, according to police. He was taken to the hospital with injuries later described as life-threatening, police said.

Two days later, police said that Outwater had been arrested and was charged with felony assault.

He is currently in custody at Cook Inlet Pretrial Facility.

Macow’s death marks the 19th homicide in Anchorage this year.
