Man dies from wounds suffered in stabbing in East Anchorage

Update, 2 p.m. Tuesday: Anchorage police said 31-year-old William V. Porter was the man who died from a stabbing wound last week. Charges have not been filed in the homicide investigation.

Original story:

A man died in an Anchorage hospital Thursday after being stabbed in the upper body the night before, police said.

Investigators said there was a “verbal altercation” between the man and a woman in a home on the 8400 block of Duben Avenue in Muldoon. The woman stabbed the man during the argument and fled, police wrote in an online statement. Officers were called to the area just after 7 p.m.

The woman later returned to the home and was questioned by detectives. Police said there are no other persons of interest in the case but the investigation is ongoing.

The stabbing is believed to be related to domestic violence.

Police have not yet released the names of the victim or suspect. A woman was arrested at the scene for outstanding warrants.
