Once again, SweetWater Brewing Co. is partnering with the Giving Kitchen to release the limited-edition Second Helping IPA.

And as always, 100% of the profits will be donated to the Giving Kitchen to help provide assistance to food service workers in crisis.

But this year there's a new event to support the cause. On Sunday, Seconds Please, a chef-driven food festival to benefit the Giving Kitchen and highlight the release of Second Helping IPA will debut at SweetWater's Taproom. You'll be able to taste dishes prepared by some great Atlanta chefs, while sipping a fresh batch of Second Helping. And throughout the afternoon, there will be live music and raffle prizes.

In support of all that, the latest version of Second Helping IPA is this week’s Beer Pick.

Profile

SweetWater first brewed Second Helping as a collaboration between Ryan and Jen Hidinger and SweetWater brewer Nick Nock to help raise awareness and funds for The Giving Kitchen. Since then, this double IPA brewed with juniper berries has become a perennial favorite.

The recipe was tweaked a bit this year, but it still includes Victory and chocolate malts, and a combo of Bravo, Centennial, and Simcoe hops. The big difference is the addition of fresh rather than dried juniper berries. Tasting it at the brewery, recently, I thought the aromas and flavors were more lively with some nice berry notes. And the beer has an even more beautiful red hue. Truly, it’s everything you could want from a classic IPA for a really good cause.

Pair With

There will be plenty of great chef’s dishes to try at Seconds Please, including adobo-rubbed smoked pork cheeks from Porch Light Latin Kitchen, a smoked turkey club slider from Fox Bros. BBQ, and Margherita pizza from the new MTH Pizza.
