Jason Aldean might live near Nashville, but his hometown of Macon is still in his heart.

The country musician donated $200,000 to Navicent Health to assist with health care needs during the coronavirus pandemic.

Funds will go toward COVID-19 response efforts including testing equipment for Navicent Health’s laboratory; virtual technology to assist community hospitals in rural areas; personal protective equipment including N95 masks, gowns, gloves and goggles; and Feed the Fight, the Navicent Health initiative to support locally owned restaurants closed because of the virus by purchasing meals to feed frontline healthcare workers.

“These are currently our most pressing needs, and the projects we will be able to support are dependent on total funds raised. We are grateful for Jason’s continued support and his commitment to his hometown,” said Ellen Terrell, president of Navicent Health Foundation, in a statement. “We hope this will result in the greatest good for central Georgia during this unprecedented time.”
