After an unplayable field ended Tuesday's game in Charleston, S.C., before it could start, Atlanta United will now host the Battery at 7 p.m. Thursday in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup at Kennesaw State's Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

The match will be closed to the public. Teams cited the limited time to set up security and other game day operations as the reason for restricting fans. The game will be broadcast on ESPN-plus, which requires a subscription.

Charleston was supposed to host Atlanta United in the fourth round of Open Cup on Tuesday at MUSC Health Stadium. However, the game was called off just before 7:30 p.m. after game officials and those from both teams met several times on the mud-filled field.

The Battery attempted to find another venue in or near Charleston, but was unable to do so.

The rescheduling of the game was made difficult because Charleston has a league game Saturday at Tampa and the next round of the Open Cup starts next week.

Should Atlanta United defeat Charleston tonight, it will play Columbus at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the next round of the U.S. Open Cup.

This is the third consecutive year that Atlanta United has hosted Charleston in the fourth round of the Open Cup. Atlanta United won the previous two games. Atlanta United has never advanced past the fifth round.
