Five-star tight end picks LSU over Alabama, others

LSU has landed a significant win over Alabama a couple weeks before their big showdown in Tuscaloosa.

Five-star Georgia tight end Arik Gilbert committed to LSU Wednesday evening during his All-American Bowl jersey ceremony at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, choosing the Tigers over the Crimson Tide, Georgia, Clemson and Texas A&M.

It was a surprise pick. Alabama had 88 percent of the votes for Gilbert in the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Gilbert is rated as the No. 1 tight end and No. 10 overall prospect in the 2020 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
