6 Birmingham-themed costumes that will win Halloween

Win the costume contest with one of these Birmingham-themed costumes that are as clever as they are easy to put together. We promise this will be your least stressful Halloween to date.

1. VULCAN AND ELECTRA

Steal the show by dressing as our city’s most iconic unofficial mascots. The God of the Forge is easy to put together with a gray shirt and pants, kitchen apron, pie server as his spear, and a DIY beard made with cotton balls, spray paint, and poster paper. For Electra, go for the gold with a fun metallic dress and tights, plus plenty of shiny accessories, including a spray-painted cardboard lightning bolt.

A costume for our city’s favorite weatherman starts with a basic white button-down and black slacks. A pair of suspenders and the fabled danger-zone polygon (cut out of cardboard) complete the look.

Somewhere over the rainbow you’ll find this cheery costume commemorating one of Birmingham’s most notable landmarks. For the basic look, don a rainbow shirt and skirt with striped rainbow socks. A spray-painted pool noodle held above your head makes you the rainbow light inside the dark tunnel.
