Birmingham-based Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, Inc., plans to build a $60 million, 300,000 square-feet sales center and warehouse in Tifton, Ga.
The facility will employ about 200 people and distribute roughly 4.5 million cases of non-alcoholic beverages to customers annually. It is expected to open in late 2021.
The new center will include a sales and distribution center, warehouse and office space, and serve as a hub for South Georgia and parts of the Florida Panhandle. It will sit on 88 acres off Interstate 75, with the center to occupy 20 acres. Brasfield & Gorrie will serve as contractor.
Over the past five years, Coca-Cola United has made significant investments in Georgia, acquiring a dozen sales centers and two production facilities there. The company also recently completed a new $80 million sales center in Union City, serving south metro Atlanta. Coca-Cola United is one of the country’s largest and oldest Coca-Cola bottlers.
President and CEO John Sherman said the center will allow the company to serve customers for “decades to come.”
“This decision is part of our company’s broader strategy to invest in our expanded footprint – which has more than tripled since 2014 - to benefit our associates, our customers and our communities," Sherman said.
