U.S. News & World Report is out with its Top 15 Hotels for 2019 list for Alabama. The list was compiled based on analysis of expert and user opinions, as part of its ranking of the best hotels in the U.S.
To rank them, the magazine compiled a score based on awards and recognition, hotel class and guest rating.
The top two hotels are along Mobile Bay, while seven of the top 15 are part of the Resort Collection along Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
15. Predido Beach Resort - Orange Beach
Perdido Beach Resort is the largest privately owned and operated Orange Beach hotel. It has two volleyball courts, children's beach activities and a bar and grille.
14. The Admiral Hotel - Mobile
Located on Government Street, the 12-story Admiral Hotel Mobile originally opened in 1940 and retains its art-deco look. It has an outdoor retreat, a swimming pool and 24-hour fitness center.
13. Auburn Marriott Opelika Resort & Spa at Grand National
Opened in 2002, the resort has 129 guest rooms facing Lake Sougahatchee. Near three golf courses with 54 holes, the hotel has indoor and outdoor pools with bar service, eight tennis courts and 13 meeting rooms.
12. Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center
Opened in 2008 with 342 rooms, Renaissance Montgomery has 32 event spaces a rooftop pool and fitness center.
11. Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel - Mobile
Opened in 2004 with 363 guest rooms, the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza is connected by a skywalk to the Arthur Outlaw Convention Center. The hotel also has 10 suites and 44,000 square feet of meeting space.

10. Elyton Hotel, Autograph Collection - Birmingham
The 1909 Elyton Hotel building became vacant when Colonial Bank moved out in 2009. In August 2015, Buford, Georgia-based Ascent Hospitality announced it would bring the building back to life with a $45 million project to include two Marriott hotels, a restaurant, event space and a rooftop bar.

Wind Creek Wetumpka has an Oasis pool with private cabanas available to rent, FIRE Steakhouse and other restaurants, an entertainment center and more than 2,500 games.
8. Wind Creek Casino & Hotel - Atmore
Wind Creek Casino & Hotel encompasses 240,000 square feet, with 57,000 square feet of gaming floor and more than 1,600 electronic gaming machines. The 17-story, 236-room luxury hotel also features other attractions, such as an amphitheater and a digital cinema.

7. Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa - Hoover
Built in the style of a Scottish castle, the resort is the centerpiece of the 1,700-acre Ross Bridge community in Hoover and includes an 8,191-yard golf course that is part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, as well as a 12,000-square-foot full-service spa and salon, 15,500 square feet of meeting space and a 10,000-square-foot ballroom.

6. The Westin - Huntsville
The Westin completed a $7 million renovation last year, with a complete remodeling of all of its guest rooms. It all, it has 232 rooms with 22 new deluxe rooms and suites. Westin Huntsville is the only Westin property in the world which also has the company's extended stay brand, The Element, under the same roof.

1. The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa
Alabama's slot at the top is occupied by the Battle House, which was built in 1852 and closed in 1974. After being boarded up for years, the 240-room hotel was meticulously restored beginning in 2003 and is connected to the 35-story RSA Tower, Alabama's tallest building.
