This isn’t Lamont Landers first go on network TV.

Last year, the gifted pop-funk musician wowed the audience on an episode of Fox’s “Showtime at the Apollo.”

But this time, notoriously blunt TV personality Simon Cowell will be judging Landers’ singing and guitar playing.

A Decatur native, Landers will audition on the 7 p.m. June 25 episode of top-rated NBC show “America’s Got Talent.”

The show features entertainers ranging from magicians to dog trainers vying to win over judges, who in addition to Cowell this season include actors Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough and comedian Howie Mandel. Actor Terry Crews hosts. Performers are auditioning for the chance to win a $1 million prize. Created by "American Idol" evil mastermind Cowell, "America's Got Talent" premiered in 2006. Judges from previous seasons include celebs such as Howard Stern, Sharon Osbourne and Heidi Klum.

On "Showtime at the Apollo," Landers appeared with his full band, to cover vintage Bill Withers track "Use Me."

However, for "America's Got Talent" at least in the audition stage, Landers will be accompanied by only his acoustic guitar stylings.

Landers seems the next North Alabama ripe for breakthrough. In addition to the TV stuff, his cut “Into the Fold” graced AL.com’s “50 songs by Alabama musicians from 2018 to know” list," while his self-titled disc landed on the “40 notable Alabama-made albums and EPs” tally.

His musical heroes include R&B/soul heavyweights like Stevie Wonder and D’Angelo.

Landers is currently based in Huntsville.
