Ready to toast to Alabama’s bicentennial? This week, you’ll be able to get a head start with a limited-edition whiskey.
In celebration of Alabama’s 200th anniversary of statehood, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and the Alabama Beverage Control Board (ABC) are releasing a special edition of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select. The celebratory spirit is bottled from two special barrels of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel whiskey that were hand-selected for the occasion.
The limited-edition commemorative 750 ml bottles of the Tennessee whiskey will feature a bicentennial medallion with the state seal and logo marking the anniversary. Starting August 23, the spirit will be available on shelves at 26 ABC stores across the state.
“We at Jack Daniel’s have a history of working closely with our neighboring state of Alabama on the production of our Tennessee Whiskey, most notably via the sourcing of local oak and our cooperage in Trinity,” said Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Jeff Arnett in a press release. “The warm, rich flavor of the Single Barrel whiskey selected for this special release makes it a can’t-miss collectors’ items for proud Alabamians.”
The Jack Daniel Cooperage opened in Trinity, Ala. in 2014. According to a news release, the cooperage now produces 1,200 white oak barrels a day which are used to age Jack Daniel’s whiskey.
First introduced in 1997, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select Tennessee Whiskey is a bold, full-bodied whiskey with complex character and flavors of vanilla, toasted oak and caramel. Each bottle contains whiskey from only one barrel, hand selected by Master Distiller Jeff Arnett and a small team of expert whiskey tasters.
