Car chases. Car crashes. Gunfights. A cop dangling from a helicopter.
We saw all of these things in Birmingham last year, when actor Aaron Eckhart came to town to film a police thriller, “Live.” That movie, directed by Steven C. Miller, is set for release in November with a new title, “Line of Duty.”
A trailer for the film was released on Monday, and if you paid attention to the filming here, the 2:14 clip inspires deja vu.

Look closely, and you’ll also see familiar streets and the skyline of downtown Birmingham.

In “Line of Duty,” Eckhart plays a disgraced policeman who’s searching for the police commissioner’s kidnapped daughter with the help of an online reporter (Courtney Eaton). The movie aims to tell its story in a real-time frame, following the cop during his 80-minute hunt for the victim as he’s chased by a deranged killer (Ben McKenzie).
The cast also includes Giancarlo Esposito, Dina Meyer and Jessica Lu. Filming took place in Birmingham from mid-May to mid-June 2018.
Director Miller also posted the trailer on Instagram, along with a poster for the movie.
“Line of Duty” will screen in select theaters and be available digitally and on demand on Nov. 15, according to ETonline. There’s no word yet on whether the movie will be shown in Birmingham cinemas.
