Man dies after vehicle hits horse in northeast Alabama

A man was killed after his vehicle hit a horse on a northeast Alabama roadway early this morning, authorities said.

Aaron Wayne West died in the crash on Jackson County 92, said state trooper spokesman Curtis Summerville. West, 28, was from the Higdon community in Jackson County.

Higdon was driving a 2006 Infinity that hit a horse, left the road and overturned, Summerville said in a news release.

The crash happened just after 4 a.m. The scene was about a mile east of Higdon.

Further details weren’t immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
