Parts of Alabama again face the prospect of severe storms this afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center has northeast Alabama in a slight risk of severe weather and parts of central and north Alabama in a marginal risk.
A slight risk means scattered severe storms are possible; isolated severe storms are possible in marginal risk areas.
It’s the fifth day in a row that Alabama has been under some sort of organized severe weather risk.
And unfortunately it’s not the last. The Storm Prediction Center in its Monday afternoon update added a marginal severe weather risk for south Alabama for Tuesday:
As for today, the strongest storms could bring damaging wind gusts, as well as lightning and heavy rain. Some small hail could be possible this afternoon.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said areas east of Interstate 65 will have the best chances for seeing strong storms by this afternoon, but strong storms will be possible areawide:
South Alabama doesn’t have a widespread severe weather risk, but some storms will be possible today.
