Two men were killed and three others were injured, including two with life-threatening wounds, after a shooting Thursday night near Alabama State University.

Update 9:10 p.m.: A second victim has died, Montgomery police said. Two other have life-threatening injuries while a third has injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Original story: A man was killed and four others were injured Thursday night in a shooting near Alabama State University in Montgomery, police said.

Police responded to the 800 block of North University Drive following a report of a person shot around 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

An adult male, who sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound, was found at the scene and pronounced dead, police said.

Three other adult males were taken to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries. Another adult male had non-life-threatening injuries.

One of those men reportedly died, according to Montgomery NBC affiliate WSFA, but AL.com could not immediately confirm that report.

Further information was not immediately available as police said the investigation was still in its early stages Thursday night.
