37-year-old man killed in east Birmingham multi-vehicle crash

A Birmingham man died Monday night, hours after he was critically injured in a multii-vehicle crash.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 37-year-old Ryan Christopher Jenkins. The wreck happened at 4:50 p.m.at the intersection of Parkway East and Fourth Avenue South.

Authorities said few details were immediately available about what led to the crash, but said Jenkins was believed to be a passenger in one of the vehicles. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he underwent surgery, and later died at 10:25 p.m.
