Two men killed in unrelated shootings in Birmingham and Bessemer have now been identified.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the victims as Calvin Walter George Hudson Jr., 20, and Marcus Terron Lowe, 41.

Hudson was killed Friday night in gunfire that also wounded two others. Bessemer Police Chief Mike Roper said officers responded at 8:17 p.m. Friday to the 200 block of Deadrick Street. Once on the scene, police found one man critically injured. Two other victims, he said, were taken by private vehicle to UAB West.

Firefighters rushed Hudson to UAB West as well. He was pronounced dead at 8:56 p.m.

Lowe was found shot early Saturday when Birmingham’s East Precinct officers responded to a Shot Spotter call in the 7800 block of Sixth Avenue North just after 12:34 a.m. While they were en route, said Sgt. Johnny Williams, they were informed that a person had been wounded.

When police arrived on the scene, they found Lowe unresponsive on the sidewalk. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service medics pronounced him dead on the scene at 12:50 a.m.

Authorities said residents in the area reported hearing gunfire shortly before Lowe was found dead. It appears, they said, that Lowe and another person exchanged gunfire. As Lowe was trying to drive away from the scene, he crashed his car into a parked vehicle. He then got out of his car and collapsed on the sidewalk.

Police on Monday had not announced arrests in either case.
