A Montgomery man remains jailed after authorities said he fatally shot his father in the head.

Douglas Keith Scarborough is charged with murder. He is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $150,000 bond.

Sheriff’s deputies responded about 5:15 a.m. Wednesday to 17220 Old Pike Road in Fitzpatrick after receiving a 911 call that a person had been shot, according to sheriff’s Capt. George A. Beaudry Sr.

Once on the scene, they found 72-year-old Jerry Scarborough unresponsive. Medics arrived on scene and pronounced the victim dead.

Charging documents state the son intentionally caused his father’s death with the gunshot wound to the head. A motive has not been released.

Beaudry said the fatal shooting is the second homicide of the year investigated by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
