Ninja Warrior returns to Atlanta with a new home

On March 24 and 25 of this year, American Ninja Warrior will make its return to Atlanta, GA, after kicking things off in Los Angeles. The only other time the show has visited the city was back in season eight.

To refresh your memory, here are the recaps of the Atlanta Qualifiers and City Finals we saw that year.

A few of the highlights included James McGrath earning the fastest time of the night at the City Finals. We were introduced to Casey Suchoki and his grandpa. Travis Rosen and Brett Sims both qualified for the National Finals. Drew Drechsel cleared both the Qualifying and City Finals courses.

During that last trip to Atlanta, American Ninja Warrior set up the course just outside Turner Field. That won’t be the case this time around. The show has selected the Mercedes Benz Stadium as its backdrop.

The stadium is home to the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) and Atlanta United FC (MLS). It also recently hosted the Super Bowl match up between the New England Patriots and the LA Rams. This all perfectly fits in with Ninja Warrior’s MO of nesting itself into a location that’s embedded into the local sports community. Also, it looks like it’s going to make one stunning visual on the program.

This Southeast region of the country is a hotbed of Ninja Warrior activity. We’re imaging that the competitors who were called to Miami and Daytona Beach over the past seasons will be heading to Atlanta. That leaves us with the potential to see Ninjas like Kenny Niemitalo, Brett Sims, Rachael Goldstein, Bootie Cothran, and Neil Craver on this course. (We THINK Drew Drechsel would end up in Baltimore, but there can always be circumstances that would change that.)

After the show wraps up in Atlanta, the season will move on to the third location of the year, Oklahoma City.
