At the scene, EMS members of Lakewood Hatzolah performed CPR on the child and eventually were able to regain a pulse, according to police.

The investigation revealed that the child had gained access to the pool after exiting a rear door of the home. He was discovered when an adult returned home, according to police. It wasn't clear how long the child had been in the water.

The boy was brought to the Jersey Shore University Shore Medical Center in Neptune for treatment. There was no immediate word on his condition.
