The four-bedroom apartment is located in the New Cuffe Parade area of Wadala in Eastern Mumbai and is designed by Shonali Mahajan of Studio Wodehouse. The interiors feature marble and rustic wooden finishes, and the home is a gorgeous showcase of contemporary design sensibilities with semblances of antiquity. The home is adorned with bold, sculptural art pieces and dramatic colours, where earthiness and austerity fuse to generate sumptuous visual imageries.

The living room radiates a modern contemporary palette of soft beiges, greys, browns and, exudes subtle design elements. The space is an amalgamation of organic textures and ochre finishes, where the furnishings are sourced from Atmosphere store in Colaba. With an emphasis on material exploration and textural synthesis, the designer accentuated the neutrality of the space with pops of colour.
The space's turquoise blue sofa and bottle green vase catch the eye. Sourced from Classic Marble Company, the dominate veins on the marble add a dimension of opulence to the room. Since this wall was going to serve as the background for a drop-down filming screen, an unobtrusive, flat surface ornamentation was a primary requirement for its rendering. Inlayed with brass, the marble blocks exude a sense of timelessness in aesthetic.
The living space also showcases impressions of tradition through its vintage, art objects. Sourced from brand Essajees in Mumbai, the tribal sculpture in the corner of the room roots the space with semblances of antiquity.

The dining room is an amalgamation of bold black and pale grey, enhanced with rustic tones of sienna. Following the client's brief, this space was designed to embody a wood-centric look, but with a contemporary touch. The dining room showcases touches of glossy marble panels and raw stone finishes. Separated from the kitchen by a ribbed-glass sliding door, this space is modulated with a sense of openness and abundance of natural light.
The dining room features bold, grey marmorino, lime-plastered walls. These are sheathed with a coat of transparent polish which bring out the surface's textural quality and depth. The dining table on the other hand, shows a sophisticated blend of black marquina marble and wood. The dark-toned sideboard blends in with the overall palette and look of the room.
The earthy colours of the room are brought out by the exquisite art pieces which flank its walls. Sourced from Philips Antiques, the expressive tribal naga panel adds a dramatic touch to the space. Further emphasising the artistic narrative of the room is the series of head sculptures that complement the mellow hues of the space.

The kitchen shows a confluence of bottle green and beige, wooden laminate panels, and is inspired by a sage green kitchen seen at Salone Del Mobile 2018 in Milan. Sourced from Belleza in Lower Parel, the deep blue and ivory patterned tiles add a dramatic touch to the space. The white textured subway dado tiles complement the glossy quartz counter.

The master bedroom's cool palette brings out the space's atmosphere of tranquility and serenity. The room's aesthetic is accentuated with tasteful gold finishes and organic fabrics. The children's bedroom is an exhibition of playful design and vibrant hues. The space is designed according to the desires of the client's children. The room features ample storage space for recreational supplies; in fact, the kids collaborated with the designer in conceiving every nook and corner of their bedroom.
The play room radiates a pale grey colour palette with bursts of vivid orange and blue; it's designed with a raised platform to maximise storage space for the children. Equipped with child-friendly surfaces and materials, this space stands out for its experimental monkey bars and quirky fabrics.
The honey coloured pinewood floor of the playroom extends into the children's neighbouring sleeping quarters. Exceptionally functional in aesthetic, this bedroom is a serene transition from the vivacity of the play area to the sleeping space. The room showcases wooden bunk beds and spacious study tables. The placid blue and white wallpaper emphasises the sublimity of the sleeping space.
