Leaders in Sioux Falls’ faith community can learn more about responding to mental health needs at an Oct. 16 workshop.

The Sioux Falls office for the National Alliance on Mental Illness is hosting the Pastoral Care Toolbox Workshop, a daylong training event at First Christian Reformed Church, 2901 E. 26th St.

Tickets are $25, and registration is available online at faithcaringformentalhealth.weebly.com. The event is open to clergy, teachers, faith leaders or anyone in a church community who needs to learn how to address mental health concerns.

The workshop includes an introduction to mental illness, plus educational sessions on resiliency, local mental health resources and how to catch warning signs of domestic abuse.

“NAMI’s goal is to provide a bridge from faith groups to mental health resources so they can better meet the needs of their people living with mental illness,” according to an emailed statement from the organization.
