A man suspected of shooting and killing another man outside of a Sioux Falls apartment complex earlier this month has been arrested.

Ramon Deron Smith, 34, was located by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Minneapolis Police Department in Minneapolis Thursday afternoon, Sioux Falls police spokesman Sam Clemens said.

A judge issued an arrest warrant for Smith soon after the June 8 shooting of three men that resulted in the death of 44-year-old Larry Carr. The warrant carries a $1 million cash-only bond.

South Dakota U.S. Marshals spokesman Gary Bunt said authorities were able to narrow down Smith's location over the past 12 hours. He was arrested at approximately 12:30 p.m. at a home in Minneapolis.

Bunt said he is unable to disclose where exactly Smith was arrested, because the home is being searched for evidence in relation to the homicide. No one else was arrested.

Smith is currently being held in the Ramsey County Jail in St. Paul, Minnesota, Bunt said. He will likely go before a judge in Minnesota tomorrow.

When Smith will return to South Dakota to face charges is uncertain, Bunt said.

"It's going to depend on whether he fights his extradition," he said.

Two women believed to be witnesses to the homicide were arrested in Idaho last week after material witness warrants were issued for them. Christina Haney, 22, and Martece Saddler, 30, were booked into the Minnehaha County Jail on Wednesday.
