Shopko pharmacy customers in South Dakota will need to pick up their prescriptions at Hy-Vees starting next week.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee Inc. announced Friday it had acquired the business of 22 Shopko pharmacies in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin, including those at the two Shopko locations in Sioux Falls and the sole location in Watertown.

Sioux Falls customers' prescriptions will move to a local Hy-Vee pharmacy starting Wednesday. Watertown customers' prescriptions will be filled at the local Hy-Vee starting Tuesday.

All affected Shopko pharmacy patients will get a letter from their new Hy-Vee Pharmacy with additional details, Hy-Vee said. New customers to Hy-Vee Pharmacy will get a coupon for Hy-Vee groceries and also get a 5 cent per gallon Fuel Saver + Perks discount, redeemable at any Hy-Vee location that offers gasoline.

“As we continue to grow our pharmacy business, we pride ourselves on providing an excellent experience to our customers,” said Randy Edeker, Hy-Vee’s chairman of the board, CEO and president, in a news release. “We provide customized care for each person who walks through our door. Our pharmacists will go above and beyond to provide numerous services to our patients so we can help them understand and assist with caring for their specific health care needs.”
