Sayre Associates Inc., a civil engineering and land surveying firm in Sioux Falls, recently made two additions to their leadership team:

  • Civil engineer Adam Slowey, P.E., became an associate owner. He has been with the firm for 6 years and has experience with residential, commercial and industrial development projects.
  • Civil engineer Scott Schneider, P.E., joined the Board of Directors and is a voting member. He has been with the firm for 13 years and has been an associate owner for 4 years.

In addition, Doug Hoy, P.E., was elected to the board of directors for the International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE). He has been with Sayre Associates for 25 years and has been an active member in the Black Hills Chapter of ISEE.

Steve Shaykett has joined NAI Sioux Falls as a broker associate. He joins NAI Sioux Falls from Shaykett Appraisal Company Inc., which he in founded in 1984. Before that, Shaykett was an appraiser in Kansas City and in Miller.

The South Dakota State Medical Association has named new leadership and award winners: 

Robert J. Summerer, D.O., of Madison was named the 138th president of SDSMA. Summerer has been an active member of the SDSMA since 1999 and is a general surgeon at Madison Regional Health System.

  • The SDSMA’s Distinguished Service Award (two recipients): Timothy J. Soundy, M.D., of Sioux Falls, and Robert E. Van Demark Jr., M.D., of Sioux Falls;
  • Outstanding Young Physician Award: Laura J. Hoefert, M.D., of Madison;
  • The SDSMA’s Community Service Award: Rick A. Kooima, M.D., of Sioux Falls;
  • Richard P. Holm, M.D., Media Award: Jerome W. Freeman, M.D., of Sioux Falls;
  • The Young at Heart Award: Tad B. Jacobs, D.O., of Sioux Falls;
  • Past President’s Award: Robert E. Van Demark Jr., M.D., of Sioux Falls;
  • Special Presidential Award: Brett D. Lawlor, M.D., of Rapid City;

Six physicians were recognized with the SDSMA’s 50-Year Award for medical practice in South Dakota. Physicians who received this award were:

  • Eldon E. Bell, M.D., of Rapid City;
  • Dale E. Berkebile, M.D., of Rapid City;
  • Arthur A. Lampert, M.D., of Rapid City;
  • Patrick S. McGreevy, M.D., of Sioux Falls;
  • Gregory Naughton, M.D., of Sioux Falls;
  • Loren K. Tschetter, M.D., of Sioux Falls.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue has made the following promotions:

  • Michael Koopman to battalion chief;
  • Eric Bartz to captain;
  • Ian Stark to fire apparatus operator;
  • Darres Nelson to fire apparatus operator.

The South Dakota Health Care Association announced  that eight South Dakota long-term care providers have been recognized with the 2019 Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).

This year’s recipients are:
