The local franchise owners of Jersey Mike’s Subs have set an open date for the first Sioux Falls location.

Jersey Mike’s is set to open Oct. 30 at 4908 S. Louise Ave., in a shopping center in southwestern Sioux Falls. The sub shop will be the first Jersey Mike’s location to open in South Dakota.

Owner Andrew Ticknor said Wednesday he is continuing to hire for open positions as crews put finishing touches on the interior.

“We’re very excited to get the ball rolling in Sioux Falls,” he said.

Jersey Mike’s arrival in Sioux Falls will bring a popular national chain to the state, but it also brings a new spin on sandwiches, Ticknor said. The chain is known for its Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and red wine vinegar and olive oil, called “the juice,” he said.

Jersey Mike’s is holding a job fair at the store all day Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., with hiring on the spot. Drop-ins are welcome, but applicants can RSVP for a time on indeed.com.

The Point Pleasant, New Jersey-based chain sets a beach theme for its restaurants, but each has the warmth of like a local sandwich shop, Ticknor said. Meats are cut fresh to order and roast beef is tied in-house, with fresh bread baked daily at the shop.

“Jersey Mike’s basically is just a fast casual all fresh sandwich concept,” Ticknor said. “Really what sets it apart is just the freshness.”
