Restaurant damaged by fire near downtown Sioux Falls
A restaurant near downtown Sioux Falls was damaged after a fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon.
A report of smoke came in around 1:30 p.m., division chief Steve Fessler said. When firefighters checked it out, they began treating it as a structure fire.
Smoke could be seen coming from the roof of the 1st Wok Chinese Restaurant, located at 523 West 10th Street near Duluth Avenue.
A burst water pipe helped extinguish the fire, Fessler said. The cause is still under investigation, but authorities do not believe it is suspicious.
The restaurant will likely be closed for a while, as it sustained heavy smoke damage, Fessler said. No one was inside at the time, as the restaurant was closed.
