Man dies in Baltic industrial accident Thursday

A former U.S. Army captain died during an industrial accident near Baltic Thursday.

Mike Warkenthien, 35, from Sioux Falls, died in a work-related accident, said Sgt. Josh Phillips with Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to the scene around 12:42 p.m. and assisted first responders.

OSHA is investigating the incident and the Argus Leader is waiting to hear more information about the investigation.

Warkenthien was originally from Clark, according to an obituary.

Visitation will be held Dec. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church at Clark. The funeral will be Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. at the Clark High School Gymnasium with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
