A Sioux Falls man was indicted by a federal grand jury for failing to register as a sex offender.

Damon Clyde Has Horns, 38, was indicted in March, and pleaded not guilty this week.

Has Horns was convicted of federal aggravated sexual abuse involving a 13-year-old girl in March 2001, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. He was required to update his registration between December 2018 and March 2019 and failed to do so, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The maximum for a federal charge of failing to register as a sex offender is up to 10 years in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, followed by five years of supervised release.
