A Crooks man who was arrested after police found four guns in his vehicle on Tri-Valley school grounds last year is facing new charges after an alleged drug rip.

Nathan Andrew Ewer, 18, was indicted on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and first-degree robbery.

An indictment alleges that Ewer, armed with a handgun, took money from a 16-year-old on June 9.

The victim was planning on meeting Ewer in a parking lot to purchase marijuana, Sioux Falls Police spokesman Sam Clemens said. The victim was getting out cash when Ewer pulled out the gun, pointed it at the victim, took the money and left, Clemens said. The victim reported the incident on June 12 and Ewer was arrested later that day. The victim was not injured.

Ewer has another case pending in which he was charged with having a weapon on school grounds in October 2018. There, authorities found four guns in Ewers' vehicle in the school parking lot after a student who had been involved in an unrelated threat investigation had said he got a ride to school from Ewer.

In the earlier incident, authorities found a .38 Spanish revolver, a .22 semi-automatic rifle, an AR-15 and a Browning 25-06 rifle in Ewer's vehicle, which had been towed from school grounds. They also found 18 knives, baseball bats, ammunition, bath salts, a mason jar with marijuana residue, prescription drugs and two ID cards that did not belong to the students, according to court documents.

Ewer was charged with having a weapon on school grounds, carrying a concealed pistol revolver without a license, possession of firearm with altered serial number and possession of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in court on that case later this month.

On his most recent charges, Ewer is scheduled to appear on July 10.

Since his October 2018 charges, Ewer has also been charged with first-degree burglary and simple assault in March, but those charges have since been dismissed, according to a background check. In June, Ewer pleaded guilty to not renewing registration and has pleaded not guilty to May charges of possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, alcohol by a minor, speeding and intent to distribute marijuana.
